We’re closer than you think
Upper Hutt is easy to get to. Access is quick from State Highway 2 or the many train stations on the Hutt Valley line, and the central business district is flat and compact. Extensive bus and train networks and plenty of free parking make it easy to get around Upper Hutt and its surrounding commercial and industrial areas.
We are only 30 minutes from Wellington City by car and 40 minutes from Wellington International Airport. Trucks and rail freight move comfortably through Upper Hutt delivering to and from harbour ports and the airport.
Goods can easily be shipped north over the Rimutaka Hills to the east coast of the North Island, or to the west coast and beyond.
We have ‘good bones’, with the rail and road system providing the backbone and circulation system for the city. From central Wellington there are ferries (Interislander and Bluebridge) constantly crossing the Cook Strait to the South Island and aircraft regularly arrive and depart the capitals airport, travelling throughout New Zealand and overseas.
